Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was deeply moved after a stand at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh was named in his honour. The recognition holds special significance for Yuvraj, as the stadium is in the state where his cricketing journey first began.

To have a stand in my name at the New Chandigarh Stadium, in the state where my cricket journey began, is a feeling that's hard to put into words ,” Yuvraj wrote on Instagram.

He expressed his gratitude to the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) , saying, “A big thank you to the @pcacricketassociation for this honour and for always backing the youth.” He also thanked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann , acknowledging his support for the sport, and the BCCI for recognising contributions across generations.

Yuvraj congratulated India captain Harmanpreet Kaur , who was also honoured with a stand at the stadium, noting, “From Moga to leading India to a World Cup title, her journey is an inspiration for every young girl who picks up a bat.”

Calling the tribute “deeply emotional,” Yuvraj added, “Feeling truly humbled to receive this at a place that will always be home.” He also thanked fans and BCCI president Mithun Manhas for celebrating his birthday and showing support.

Reflecting on his illustrious career, Yuvraj was a key performer in India’s 2011 World Cup campaign, becoming the first all-rounder to score over 300 runs and take 15 wickets in a single World Cup . His outstanding performance included 362 runs, a century, four fifties, 15 wickets , and four Man of the Match awards , cementing his place in cricketing history.

This honour at New Chandigarh stands as a lasting tribute to Yuvraj Singh’s contributions to Indian cricket and his enduring legacy for future generations.
