Yuvraj Sandhu Stands Tall as Lone Indian to Make the Cut in Spain Golf Event
India’s Yuvraj Sandhu emerged as the only bright spot at the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship , making the cut as the tournament moved into the weekend rounds.
Playing in his maiden season on the DP World Tour , Sandhu showed steady control across two days. After an opening 4-under 68 , he followed it up with an even-par second round , finishing tied 16th to comfortably progress.
However, it was a tough outing for the rest of the Indian challenge. Shubhankar Sharma returned cards of 71-74 , while Veer Ahlawat posted 75-72 . Both missed the cut and exited early.
At the top of the leaderboard, Stefano Mazzoli and Lucas Bjerregaard shared the lead heading into the weekend.
Rookie Mazzoli , who earned his DP World Tour card through the 2025 Road to Mallorca rankings, impressed with a bogey-free 67 . He started strong with back-to-back birdies, maintained consistency through the middle stretch, and finished with a confident closing birdie run.
Bjerregaard matched the effort with a final-hole birdie of his own to also card a 67 , keeping him level at the top.
Just one shot behind, South Africa’s Yurav Premlall produced the round of the day with a stunning 8-under 64 , the best of his DP World Tour career, to move into serious contention.
With the weekend ahead, Indian hopes now rest solely on Yuvraj Sandhu , who will look to build on his steady form in a strong international field.
