The city is set to host another major sporting event as the ‘Yuva Bharat Run’ will be held on Sunday, starting at 6:00 AM . Bringing together school students, college youth, Gen Z participants, and families , the event is emerging as one of India’s largest youth fitness movements.

According to World Health Organization statistics, nearly 72% of Indian youth remain physically inactive. Additionally, India ranks second globally in obesity . While today’s youth are highly active on social media, opportunities for real-world interaction and physical activity have declined. The primary objective of the ‘Yuva Bharat Run’ is to reverse this trend by promoting discipline, health, and an active lifestyle among young people.

Record Participation Expected

Organisers estimate participation of over 12,000 individuals , including youth and their family members. A key highlight of the event is a 5-kilometre paced run , where participants will run under the guidance of experienced runners. The initiative aims not only to encourage participation but also to instill values such as endurance and perseverance , making fitness a part of daily life.

The event is being led by young entrepreneur and educationist Yashaswi Malka , who stated, “Yuva Bharat Run is not just a one-day event; it is the beginning of a Gen Z fitness movement. Only when our children and students are healthy can we build a strong New India.”

The programme is supported by Delhi Public School (DPS) Pallavi Group of Institutions . It is being organised under the guidance of BJP Deputy Floor Leader, MLC, and DPS Chairman Malka Komaraiah , with a focus on youth development. The initiative also has backing from the Central Government’s ‘Fit India’ movement and the ‘MY Bharat’ platform under the Ministry of Youth Affairs.

Beyond physical fitness, the run also focuses on mental well-being . Heartfulness Meditation has joined as a partner to promote inner calm through meditation alongside exercise. Ananth Sanjeev Duggar , founder of The Nile Mile, is overseeing event management. Organisers hope that this annual platform will unite schools, colleges, and parents to build a healthier future generation .
