Alleging that the coalition government has failed to safeguard the rights and welfare of Backward Classes (BCs), the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) organised a public meeting titled ‘BC Galam’ in Anantapur.

The meeting, held under the leadership of BC Wing Working President BC Ramesh Goud , was attended by Rayalaseema Regional Coordinator and former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy , district president Anantha Venkatarami Reddy , BC Wing State President Ramesh Yadav , and others.

Addressing the gathering, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said that during the YSRCP regime, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had given high priority to BCs and ensured their participation in governance. He criticised the coalition government for failing to fulfil its electoral promises, stating that even after two years, no significant benefits had reached BCs. He asserted that only the leadership of Jagan Mohan Reddy could ensure due representation for BCs.

District YSRCP president Anantha Venkatarami Reddy said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had demonstrated that BCs are not “backward” but the “backbone” of society. He recalled that all promises made during the 2019 BC Garjana were implemented after coming to power, adding that ₹1.8 lakh crore had been spent on BC welfare. He also noted that 11 out of 24 ministers in the previous government were from BC communities, describing it as an unprecedented step in the State’s history.

Questioning what the present coalition government had done for BCs in the past two years, he alleged that it was focusing more on diversionary politics than development. He criticised the leadership for targeting Jagan Mohan Reddy while praising N. Chandrababu Naidu , instead of addressing issues affecting marginalised sections.

He called upon BCs to unite and continue their struggle against the coalition government, urging them to bring Jagan Mohan Reddy back to power as Chief Minister. He also questioned the non-implementation of the promise to provide pensions to BC women at the age of 50 .

Among those present were MLCs Bharath, Mangamma, and Sivarami Reddy , coordinators Sake Sailajanath, Talari Rangayya, Eera Lakkappa, Kethireddy Peddareddy, Vishweshwar Reddy, and Thopudurthi Prakash Reddy , ZP Chairperson Boya Girijamma , former MP Gorantla Madhav , and others.
