YSRCP MLCs Question Government Over Super Six, Jobs and Farmer Support

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has launched a sharp attack on the ruling coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, accusing it of failing to deliver on the much-publicised “Super Six” welfare promises even months after assuming office. Addressing reporters at the Assembly media point , YSRCP MLCs Lella Appi Reddy and Varudu Kalyani questioned the government’s commitment to the key assurances that played a major role during the election campaign, saying there was still no clarity on major schemes such as unemployment allowance for youth , financial assistance for mothers under “Thalliki Vandanam,” and the supply of free LPG cylinders to households.

The leaders alleged that whenever the opposition raises public issues and welfare concerns in the Assembly, ministers avoid giving direct answers and instead spend time criticising the previous YSRCP government. This, they said, reflects the administration’s inability to explain the status of its own promises.

The MLCs also expressed serious concern over the state’s financial health , claiming that the government has been heavily dependent on borrowings. According to them, the state has taken loans amounting to nearly ₹3.28 lakh crore in the past 20 months , a figure they said is almost equivalent to the borrowings made during the previous five-year term. While the coalition government promised wealth creation and economic growth , they argued that rising debt could place a significant interest burden on the state exchequer .

The opposition leaders further pointed out that promises regarding 6.28 lakh jobs and financial assistance for unemployed youth were missing from the latest state budget , raising doubts about the government’s commitment to tackling unemployment.

Highlighting agricultural concerns, MLC Varudu Kalyani said farmers are facing increasing difficulties. She stated that the government still needs to release ₹410 crore in input subsidy related to crop losses caused by Cyclone Michaung , while total pending dues to farmers stand at around ₹1,100 crore .

She also drew attention to the steep fall in banana prices , which reportedly dropped from nearly ₹30,000 per tonne to about ₹5,000 , severely affecting growers. Kalyani alleged that policies linked to the “Annadata Sukhibhava” scheme have resulted in losses of nearly ₹27,465 crore for farmers, while tenant farmers have not been adequately addressed in the budget.

The YSRCP leaders also alleged irregularities in the allocation of government land , claiming that about 55 acres in Visakhapatnam , valued at nearly ₹5,000 crore , had been allotted to GITAM educational institutions linked to a Member of Parliament in violation of norms.

They further criticised the government for allegedly suppressing protests by Anganwadi workers , stating that dismantling their protest tents was undemocratic . The party leaders said the YSRCP would continue to raise these issues until the government fulfils every promise made to the people.
