YSRCP demands action on Vijayawada health crisis

The YSRCP has launched a strong attack against the ruling NDA government, accusing it of negligence following a severe diarrhoea outbreak in Vijayawada. The party has declared the situation a "medical emergency," citing over 700 cases reported in just five days, with children being the primary victims.

A YSRCP fact-finding team, led by NTR district President Devinenni Avinash, visited the affected area of New Rajarajeswari Peta. The team reported a shocking state of affairs, with residents receiving foul-smelling, muddy water. They also noted overflowing drains that they claim have not been cleaned in over a year. The YSRCP has directly linked these unsanitary conditions to the widespread illness. While the government officially reports only 270 cases, the YSRCP's team documented more than 700 cases on just two streets, contradicting the official count.

The party criticized the government for allegedly trying to deflect blame by pointing to Ganesh immersions and street food as the cause. The YSRCP also accused government ministers of being preoccupied with "land deals" during the "Vijayawada Utsav" instead of addressing the urgent public health crisis. Furthermore, the party's team reported a severe lack of essential resources at the local health camps, which were found to be without ambulances, paediatric doctors, or proper water testing facilities.

In response to the alleged inaction, the YSRCP has issued a list of firm demands. They insist on the immediate provision of a safe and clean water supply, free medical care for all affected individuals, improved sanitation, and compensation for the families. The party has warned that if these demands are not met promptly, they will escalate the issue directly to the Governor.
