YSRCP demands action on irregularities in ration distribution

Pulivendula Municipal Incharge Manohar Reddy, along with leaders from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), has submitted a petition to the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) raising concerns over irregularities in ration distribution.

They pointed out that under the previous government led by former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, ration supplies were distributed transparently to every household. However, the current coalition government has shifted the system entirely to dealer-based distribution, with many dealership licenses reportedly given to individuals associated with the Telugu Desam Party.

This, according to the petition, has resulted in ration supplies being diverted to the black market instead of reaching the needy. Currently, weekly or 10-day rations are being distributed for only 2-3 days. Only 50-60% of eligible residents are receiving ration, and quantities at ration shops are reportedly 2-3 kilograms short. Some dealers are allegedly transferring supplies to other areas illegally.

As a result, many poor residents are forced to stand in long queues, sometimes returning empty-handed despite skipping daily wage work. Elderly people, women, and persons with disabilities are particularly affected. This situation has caused widespread dissatisfaction among the public.

The petition emphasizes that what was once a transparent system under government oversight is now lacking, and even the basic entitlement of ration is being distributed unfairly. The YSRCP leaders urged the authorities to investigate these irregularities immediately, ensure proper distribution to the public, and take action against negligent dealers.
