YSRCP Creating Confusion Over DSC Recruitment, Says Nadendla Manohar

Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister and Jana Sena Party PAC chairman Nadendla Manohar on Thursday accused the YSRCP leadership of having little respect for teachers and alleged that the opposition party was using protests as a means to create unrest and disorder in the state. Speaking at a media conference in Tenali, Manohar claimed that YSRCP-led demonstrations were increasingly turning violent.

Manohar alleged that rowdy-sheeters and anti-social elements were being brought in from four or five districts to participate in protests and that teachers were being targeted during the demonstrations. While acknowledging that peaceful protests were an essential part of democracy, he said violence and attacks could not be justified in the name of public demonstrations.

On the DSC recruitment issue, Manohar said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had repeatedly expressed his readiness to discuss the matter. However, he alleged that YSRCP leaders had not made use of the opportunity. The minister said the government was prepared to provide evidence-based answers to every question raised by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding the recruitment process.

Manohar also criticised Jagan over his statements on recruitment, alleging that he was speaking without clearly distinguishing between the DSC and APPSC systems. He further said the Opposition had opportunities to raise public issues in the Assembly but was not utilising them.

The DSC recruitment process has remained a contentious political issue, with the YSRCP alleging irregularities and seeking an investigation. Jagan recently met Governor S Abdul Nazeer and sought a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in DSC appointments.

Turning to the liquor policy issue, Manohar alleged that major irregularities took place in liquor sales and policy decisions during the previous YSRCP government. He claimed that poor-quality liquor affected people's health and alleged that several people lost their lives.

The minister claimed that liquor sales worth around ₹1.30 lakh crore took place during the previous government, while only about ₹600 crore involved digital transactions. He said the ED and state agencies were investigating matters linked to liquor transportation tenders.

Manohar alleged that political programmes were being organised to divert attention from the investigation and claimed that the YSRCP's activities were aimed at creating confusion and obstructing investment and development in Andhra Pradesh.
