YSRCP Calls for End to Baseless Claims on Srivari Prasadam

The prolonged controversy surrounding the Tirumala laddu prasadam , revered by millions of Hindu devotees, has reached a significant conclusion following a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. Acting on Supreme Court directions, a CBI-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) filed its final chargesheet before the Nellore ACB Court after a 15-month investigation .

While the CBI categorically dismissed allegations that animal fat was mixed in the laddu prasadam, it simultaneously uncovered a massive ₹250-crore ghee adulteration scam involving supplies to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

No Evidence of Animal Fat in Laddu

The most crucial finding of the chargesheet is that there is no scientific evidence to support claims that animal fat, pig fat or fish oil was used in the laddu prasadam. Tests conducted at nationally accredited laboratories yielded negative results. These findings contradict allegations made earlier by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu .

With the scientific findings now on record, the emotionally charged “animal fat” controversy —which deeply hurt devotees’ sentiments has effectively been laid to rest. YSRCP leaders RK Roja and Karunakara Reddy termed the allegations politically motivated and called the report a setback for the TDP leadership.

Palm Oil Passed Off as Pure Ghee

Despite ruling out animal fat, the CBI confirmed large-scale adulteration in the ghee supplied to TTD. According to the chargesheet, chemically processed palm oil and palm kernel oil were fraudulently sold as pure cow ghee . Between 2019 and 2024 , nearly 6.8 million kilograms of adulterated ghee reportedly entered the supply chain.

Investigators found that fake laboratory reports and forged documents were used to conceal the adulteration, with dairy experts and suppliers allegedly acting in collusion.

Officials and Dairy Firms Named as Accused

The CBI named 36 accused, including nine TTD officials and five dairy experts. Directors of Bhole Baba Organic Dairy Pomil Jain and Vipin Jain were identified as the prime conspirators. The list also includes former TTD General Managers Subrahmanyam and Murali Krishna.

However, former TTD Chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy and former Additional EO Dharma Reddy, though questioned, were not named as accused.

Political Fallout and Legal Battle Ahead

The chargesheet has triggered fresh political tensions in Andhra Pradesh. TDP leader G. Anuradha claimed the SIT had established adulteration, while YSRCP leader Manohar Reddy announced plans to approach the High Court, asserting that allegations against his party had been disproved.
