YSRCP Alleges Rising Attacks on Government Employees, Seeks Immediate Action Against Accused

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has alleged that attacks on government employees have become a recurring issue in Andhra Pradesh since the TDP-led coalition government assumed office. Condemning the alleged assaults, the party has demanded immediate action against those responsible and stronger measures to ensure the safety of public servants.

Speaking at a press conference held at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Friday, Nalamaru Chandrasekhar Reddy, State President of the party's Employees and Pensioners Wing, accused the government of failing to protect officials performing their duties. He claimed that despite repeated complaints from employees, victims and public organisations, the administration had not taken effective steps to prevent such incidents or reassure government staff.

Citing a recent incident in Motumalle village of Rompicherla mandal in Chittoor district, Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that Village Revenue Officer ( VRO) Damodaram was attacked while discussing land record issues with farmers at the Rompicherla Tahsildar's office. He alleged that TDP leader Sundaram assaulted the official with a chair, causing serious injuries, including the loss of three teeth.

According to the YSRCP leader, villagers who had come to the office to present their grievances were also allegedly threatened and forced to leave the premises. He argued that an attack on a government official inside a government office reflected a serious deterioration in the state's law and order situation. He further alleged that some ruling party leaders were taking the law into their own hands with a sense of impunity.

Chandrasekhar Reddy also criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, saying the Chief Minister had earlier promised to protect the dignity of government employees and provide them with a conducive working environment. However, he alleged that the government had remained silent even when members of the ruling party were accused of attacking officials.

He said the Tahsildar had already lodged complaints with the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police (SP), but claimed that no effective action had been taken so far. The YSRCP leader demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and strict legal action. He also urged the government to make District Collectors and SPs accountable for preventing attacks on government employees in their respective jurisdictions and to implement stronger safeguards to ensure such incidents do not recur.
