YSRCP Alleges 'Red Book Rule' Has Replaced Rule of Law in Andhra Pradesh

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Legal Cell State President Malasani Manohar Reddy has alleged that Andhra Pradesh is witnessing the emergence of " Red Book rule " instead of constitutional governance, accusing the state government of misusing law enforcement for political purposes.

In a statement released on Sunday, Manohar Reddy claimed that the rule of law in the state has been seriously undermined. He alleged that false criminal cases, unlawful arrests, and selective police action against opposition leaders and supporters have become increasingly common under the present administration.

According to him, the police are no longer functioning as an impartial law enforcement agency but are instead acting in the interests of the ruling party. He alleged that opposition leaders, YSRCP workers, social media activists, and journalists are being targeted through fabricated cases. Referring to the Amudalavalasa incident, he claimed that police had booked individuals who had no connection with the case. He also alleged that a social media activist in Vinukonda was arrested without following the mandatory legal procedures.

Manohar Reddy further cited the recent attack on former Tadipatri sarpanch Hanumantha Reddy, saying the incident reflected the deterioration of law and order in the state. He also alleged that Alur MLA Virupakshi and his son Chandrasekhar were taken into police custody late at night without adhering to prescribed legal procedures.

He claimed that police failed to issue prior notices or prepare an arrest memo before detaining them and also seized CCTV hard disks from the MLA's residence. Such actions, he alleged, violated established legal safeguards meant to protect the rights of individuals during arrests.

The YSRCP leader further accused the government of shielding those responsible for attacks while registering cases against the victims instead. He argued that the incidents created an impression that leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSRCP were being treated differently under the law.

Concluding his statement, Manohar Reddy alleged that the government had sidelined the Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and was operating under what he described as a " Red Book Constitution " driven by political vendetta. He demanded the unconditional release of Alur MLA Virupakshi and Chandrasekhar, immediate action against TDP leader Nagaraju and others accused in the attack on the MLA's residence, and an end to what he described as illegal cases and midnight arrests targeting opposition leaders.
