Senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Gudivada Amarnath has accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of misusing the World Economic Forum (WEF) platform at Davos for political self-promotion and making baseless allegations against the opposition.

Addressing a press conference, Amarnath alleged that the Chief Minister had turned the foreign visit into a “political marketing exercise,” ignoring issues faced by people in the State. He claimed that farmers were not receiving Minimum Support Prices , students were facing hardships due to pending fee reimbursement dues , and key electoral promises remained unfulfilled.

Bhogapuram Airport Credit Dispute

Referring to the Bhogapuram Greenfield International Airport project, Amarnath accused the TDP-led government of indulging in “ credit theft .” He asserted that all statutory clearances and most of the preliminary groundwork for the project were completed during the YSRCP government’s tenure between 2019 and 2024 .

The Bhogapuram airport is considered crucial for improving connectivity and economic growth in North Andhra . A validation flight was conducted at the site on January 4 to assess runway readiness and safety parameters, further intensifying the political debate over the project’s progress and ownership.

Amarnath also questioned the government’s focus on overseas outreach while domestic challenges remained unresolved. He said the administration should prioritise addressing farmers’ distress, youth unemployment, and student welfare instead of concentrating on publicity-driven foreign engagements.

He further asserted that misleading claims and exaggerated projections had become a pattern under the TDP regime, and said people were aware of the ground realities. The ruling TDP has not responded to the allegations so far.
