YSRCP Alleges Illegal Detention of Pudi Srihari
The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has alleged that its leader Pudi Srihari was unlawfully detained , calling the move undemocratic and demanding his immediate release .
Srihari, State General Secretary (Media Wing) and former CPRO to ex-Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was reportedly intercepted by plainclothes police while returning from the latter’s residence. The party claimed he was taken into custody without explanation, his mobile phone and laptop were seized, and his whereabouts were not disclosed. It also alleged that police searched his residence without proper authorization and denied entry to party representatives.
Condemning the incident, YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy termed it a serious violation of civil rights and accused the Telugu Desam Party-led government of targeting opposition leaders.
Police, however, rejected the allegations. Chittoor police said a case was registered against Srihari over a social media post allegedly depicting Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu with a knife. He was taken into custody in connection with the case and shifted to Chittoor for further legal proceedings .
The YSRCP has called for his immediate release and urged the government to stop what it described as politically motivated actions against opposition leaders.
