Andhra Pradesh Congress president YS Sharmila has decided to shift the venue of her daughter Anjili Reddy’s wedding following a dispute over family properties and disagreements with her brother, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Sharmila announced the decision on Saturday through a post on X, stating that the wedding would be held at a different location to avoid unnecessary controversy and unpleasant incidents. The marriage was initially planned at Yelahanka Palace in Bengaluru, but Jagan reportedly refused to allow the venue to be used for the ceremony.

Clarifying her position on the property dispute, Sharmila maintained that the Yelahanka property had been allotted entirely to her and her children as part of the family property settlement. She asserted that she was stating the truth in the name of God.

Sharmila said she had hoped to organise the wedding at Yelahanka Palace because of its emotional significance. The house held special memories for the family, as her father and former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy had spent time there. Moreover, choosing the property as the wedding venue was also her daughter’s wish.

Expressing her disappointment, Sharmila said it was natural for parents to wish to celebrate their children's weddings in their own homes. She regretted that she could not fulfil her daughter's desire to get married in the house where she had grown up.

She also thanked everyone who had expressed concern and extended support to her daughter amid the developments surrounding the wedding venue.

Sharmila confirmed that the wedding of Anjili Reddy and Somal Raghuram Reddy would now take place at another location in the presence of relatives, friends and well-wishers.

Concluding her announcement, she sought the blessings and good wishes of the Telugu people for the couple as they begin their married life.
