Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will visit Juvvaladinne in Nellore district on April 15. In view of the visit, YSRCP leaders inspected the site identified for the helipad.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said a fishing harbour had been established for the welfare of fishermen, but several works remained pending from the previous government. They alleged that the present coalition government was neglecting their completion. A strong objection was raised to the decision to allocate harbour lands to a private company . They said this would pose a threat to fishermen’s livelihoods, especially at a time when the number of boats is expected to increase in the future. “We are not against companies, but it is not appropriate to give away land meant for the harbour,” they clarified.

Former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy said, “ After Lokesh laid the foundation stone, preventing fishermen from entering the harbour is unjust. Steps that harm fishermen’s livelihoods must be stopped. ” He added that Jagan’s visit is aimed at understanding fishermen’s issues and that an interactive programme will be held with them. Fishermen are preparing to present their grievances directly to Jagan, he said.

Questioning the police for what he termed unnecessary concern over the visit, Kakani alleged that attempts were being made to divide fishermen into two groups.

YSRCP leader Pratap Kumar Reddy called upon the party cadre to make Jagan’s visit a success. “ The YSRCP will always stand by fishermen to protect their rights. We will not allow harbour lands to be handed over to private companies, ” he asserted.
