YSRCP president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a sharp attack on the coalition government led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu , alleging that the police system in the state was being misused for political purposes to suppress opposition voices.

Responding through social media platform ‘X’ on Friday, Jagan strongly criticised the government’s functioning.

He recalled that the freedom of speech guaranteed under Article 19 of the Indian Constitution was the backbone of democracy. However, he alleged that the present government was carrying out a systematic attack on this fundamental right.

Jagan accused the government of deliberately foisting false cases and invoking stringent laws against those questioning or criticising the administration, thereby subjecting them to harassment.

Expressing concern over the alleged suppression on social media platforms, he claimed that FIRs were being registered immediately based on politically motivated complaints over social media posts and videos. He further alleged that police were sending notices to social media companies seeking the removal of content exposing government failures and the suspension of related accounts, describing it as part of a conspiracy to control public opinion.

Jagan also alleged that YSRCP activists, journalists, and ordinary citizens were being targeted through acts of political vendetta. At the same time, he claimed that police were not taking action against abusive remarks and false propaganda directed at YSRCP leaders, calling it evidence of the government’s double standards.

Stating that democracy could not survive in an atmosphere of fear, Jagan demanded that the use of police as political weapons be stopped immediately.
