A 21-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was detained by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near the India–Pakistan border in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district after he was allegedly found attempting to cross over to the neighbouring country.

The youth, identified as Pankaj Kashyap, a resident of Shahjahanpur, was spotted moving suspiciously close to the frontier on Sunday. BSF personnel patrolling the canal area in the Mohangarh police station limits intercepted him and questioned him after observing unusual behaviour, officials said.

During preliminary questioning, Kashyap reportedly admitted that he was attempting to cross the international border into Pakistan. He was handed over to the Jaisalmer police for further legal action.

According to officials, the youth is scheduled to undergo detailed interrogation at the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) on Monday. Multiple security agencies will examine his motives, background, and digital footprints to determine whether the attempt stemmed from personal distress, online influence, or any contact with unknown individuals.
