A 28-year-old man, identified as Ragesh from Chempazhanthy Chellamangalam , was killed early Monday when his motorcycle collided with a KSRTC Swift electric bus in Sreekaryam . The tragic accident occurred around 1 am at Pangappara Mankuzhy , police said.

Ragesh, who suffered severe head injuries, died on the spot. The motorcycle was completely damaged in the collision. The bus was heading towards Vikas Bhavan after being charged at the Kaniyapuram depot , officials added.

He was scheduled to marry a woman from Kattaikonam later that morning at a temple. Reports indicate that the families of the couple had reportedly opposed the relationship, prompting the couple to plan a temple wedding followed by official registration. They had also rented a house in Chanthavila for the ceremony.

Local residents expressed shock and grief over the incident, describing it as a tragic end to what should have been a day of celebration. Police said the accident occurred while Ragesh was returning home after visiting a relative’s house.

Sreekaryam police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage to ascertain the cause. A formal case will be registered after the preliminary probe is completed. The body will be handed over to relatives after a postmortem examination, authorities said.
