At 62, Nicolas Cage continues to project the aura of a classic Hollywood star off-screen, but his co-stars from the upcoming series Spider-Noir say he becomes completely transformed once filming begins.

Actors Lamorne Morris , Jack Huston and Li Jun Li described Cage as both intensely charismatic and deeply professional, noting a sharp contrast between his public persona and his on-set focus.

Morris said Cage embodies unmistakable “Nick Cage energy” off camera, recalling his striking style and larger-than-life presence. However, he added that Cage quickly shifts into a disciplined, caring and highly professional performer the moment he steps out of his trailer.

“He can switch it on and off instantly ,” Morris said, praising his ability to move seamlessly between modes.

Huston, who plays Flint Marko (Sandman), called Cage “one of the most surprising actors ” he has worked with. He said Cage brings unmatched preparation and originality to every scene, adding that the actor consistently elevates those around him.

“You can never put him in a box ,” Huston said, noting Cage’s ability to reinvent even familiar material with fresh energy.

Li Jun Li, who plays Cat Hardy , said working with Cage reshaped her understanding of performance itself. She described him as hyper-focused and fast-working , with highly specific creative choices that challenged and inspired her approach to scenes.

Spider-Noir, produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Amazon MGM Studios, marks Cage’s first television role and his debut in the superhero genre. The series follows Cage as Ben Reilly, a struggling private investigator in 1930s New York who confronts his past as a masked vigilante.

Directed by Harry Bradbeer, with co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, the series also features executive producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal.

Spider-Noir premieres on Prime Video on May 25.
