
Yogi Adityanath Deepens Japan Engagement with Green Hydrogen Pact, CEO Outreach
A day after pitching Uttar Pradesh as a global investment destination in Singapore and Tokyo, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath intensified his Japan outreach with a strategic focus on Yamanashi Prefecture , strengthening cooperation in clean energy and advanced technology .
On the second day of his Japan visit, Adityanath held talks with Kotaro Nagasaki , Governor of Yamanashi, to expand collaboration in industry, tourism and skill development . A memorandum of understanding was signed with emphasis on green hydrogen, clean energy innovation and technology transfer . Under the agreement, students from higher technical institutions in Uttar Pradesh will receive training in Japan, while hydrogen technologies will be deployed across the state’s industrial, transport and energy sectors .
The Chief Minister visited an advanced hydrogen energy plant in Yamanashi and reviewed its power to gas system , which converts renewable electricity into hydrogen for fuel, storage and clean mobility. Calling green hydrogen a key pillar of future energy security, he said Uttar Pradesh is developing IIT Kanpur as a Centre of Excellence in Green Hydrogen to promote energy self-reliance.
Adityanath also experienced Japan’s high speed SCMAGLEV train , travelling at over 500 km per hour , and described it as a benchmark for precision mobility and sustainable infrastructure .
During the UP Investment Roadshow , he welcomed the Yamanashi Governor’s proposal to lead a delegation of 200 CEOs to Uttar Pradesh in August, expected to accelerate industrial partnerships and investment momentum . Senior state ministers and officials also held government to government and business to business meetings , underlining the growing India–Japan strategic partnership .
