Yoga 365 Launched as Part of IDY 2026 Countdown to Promote Daily Practice
With the countdown to the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 underway, the Ministry of Ayush has launched Yoga 365 , a nationwide campaign aimed at making yoga a daily habit rather than a one-day observance.
The initiative was unveiled during Yoga Mahotsav-2026 , held at Vigyan Bhawan , which marked the 100-day countdown to IDY. While Yoga 365 forms a key part of this countdown, it is designed as a long-term programme to sustain engagement with yoga throughout the year.
As part of the launch, the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) signed an MoU with wellness platform Habuild to offer free daily online yoga sessions , enabling wider access across geographies and fitness levels.
Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav said the initiative aims to transform awareness into action. “The vision of Yoga 365 is to make yoga an integral part of citizens’ daily lives, turning wellness into a way of life,” he said, highlighting that the next phase after global awareness is consistent practice .
According to the National Sample Survey (NSS), awareness of traditional wellness systems remains high 95 per cent in rural India and 96 per cent in urban India . However, only about 1.1 crore rural and 1.4 crore urban households report regular yoga practice, underlining a gap between awareness and adoption.
Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha noted that the campaign, along with newly introduced yoga protocols for non-communicable diseases, seeks to bridge this gap by making yoga more accessible and relevant for everyday health.
Yoga 365 will function as an umbrella initiative , integrating various programmes and promoting participation across schools, workplaces, and communities , alongside digital platforms.
Joint Secretary Monalisa Dash emphasised that the campaign focuses on behavioural change and mass participation , ensuring yoga evolves into a sustainable lifestyle practice across the country.
