YEIDA Clears Mega Projects to Boost Investment, Jobs and Infrastructure Around Jewar Airport
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority’s (YEIDA) decisions could significantly reshape the Jewar–Noida International Airport region, turning it into a diversified economic corridor combining manufacturing, healthcare, education, transport, sports and urban development.
At its 92nd Board meeting, YEIDA approved a 500-acre medical hub across Sectors 13 and 14 and a 480-acre university township in Sector 14. Together, they are expected to expand healthcare and higher education while creating skilled and supporting jobs for doctors, nurses, technicians, teachers and allied professionals.
The industrial push is equally significant. A 300-acre Taiwan City in Sector 6 is designed to attract Taiwanese companies and foreign investment in electronics, technology and manufacturing. A 100–125-acre pharmaceutical formulation cluster in the same sector could draw domestic and global drugmakers, with facilities planned for tablets, capsules, injectables, oral liquids, topical products and other finished dosage forms meeting Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
For the medical-device industry, YEIDA approved a testing facility at its Medical Device Park under the US FDA’s Accreditation Scheme for Conformity Assessment. Such infrastructure could help manufacturers meet international requirements and strengthen the region’s prospects for high-value production and exports.
Connectivity will also receive a boost through plans to identify land for an interstate bus terminal in Sector 23C, linking the airport with industrial areas and emerging urban centres. A proposed 50-acre international stadium in Sector 23D could support athletes and attract major sporting events, generating hospitality and commercial activity.
Farmers are directly affected by YEIDA’s land-purchase decision. The mutual-consent rate for planned development in Phase-1 areas of Gautam Buddha Nagar and Bulandshahr has increased 6 per cent, from Rs 4,300 to Rs 4,558 per square metre. An alternative package offers Rs 4,037 per square metre plus 7 per cent abadi plots.
A modern 36-acre mandi will further improve agricultural marketing and storage.
Collectively, these measures could attract investment, create direct and indirect employment and strengthen supply chains across Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr and Uttar Pradesh, provided execution, infrastructure delivery and investor participation match the ambition.
