Jana Sena Party state general secretary and AP Mala Welfare Corporation chairman Dr. Pedapudi Vijay Kumar on Sunday hit out at the YSR Congress Party (YCP), questioning its credibility to speak about the concerns of Gen Z after allegedly failing to provide adequate employment opportunities to young people during its tenure.

Addressing the media at the Jana Sena central office in Mangalagiri along with party state secretary and Madiga Welfare Corporation director Bethapudi Vijay Shekhar, Vijay Kumar alleged that the previous YCP government failed to release job calendars on time and left unemployed youth disappointed over recruitment promises involving mega DSC and police constable posts.

He said the coalition government had focused on strengthening rural infrastructure during its first two years in office. Under Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s Panchayat Raj and Rural Development portfolio, around 8,571 km of cement-concrete roads and hundreds of kilometres of bitumen roads had been constructed, he claimed.

Vijay Kumar also highlighted the ‘Atavithalli Bata’ initiative, under which road works covering about 2,710 km were being taken up to improve connectivity to remote villages and eliminate the need for people to depend on makeshift transport arrangements such as palanquins.

He criticised YCP leaders for allegedly focusing on political attacks against Pawan Kalyan instead of addressing public issues. Referring to Yerragondapalem MLA Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar, Vijay Kumar alleged that the legislator had stayed away from development activities. He claimed that Chandrasekhar did not attend the foundation-laying ceremony for Jal Jeevan Mission works in Markapuram, despite being officially invited.

According to Vijay Kumar, development works worth nearly ₹200 crore were continuing in the constituency irrespective of the MLA’s alleged lack of involvement.

Bethapudi Vijay Shekhar said it was ironic that leaders accused of pushing youngsters towards ganja and drugs were now organising programmes in the name of Gen Z. He urged YCP leaders to stop making statements aimed at pleasing former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and instead concentrate on resolving people’s problems.

The Jana Sena leaders also praised Pawan Kalyan for continuing to participate in government programmes soon after undergoing surgery, describing it as a reflection of his commitment to the state’s development.
