Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Release Postponed Again, Makers Plan Bigger Global Rollout
The much-awaited gangster epic Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups , starring Yash , has been postponed once again, with the makers deciding to skip the previously scheduled June 4, 2026 release in order to prepare for a bigger worldwide theatrical rollout .
In a heartfelt statement shared by the actor, Yash revealed that the decision came after the film was presented at CinemaCon , where it reportedly received an overwhelming response from international distributors and industry insiders . The strong interest has opened doors for a larger global distribution strategy, prompting the team to recalibrate its release plans.
Calling Toxic a deeply personal project, Yash said the journey of making the film reminded him why he fell in love with cinema. The actor-producer emphasised that with Indian films increasingly capturing global attention, he wants this project to “reach its fullest potential worldwide” before arriving in theatres.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Geetu Mohandas , the film is already complete , and the team is now focusing on securing international distribution deals and strategic partnerships to ensure a simultaneous worldwide release.
Interestingly, this marks the third shift in the film’s release timeline . The project was first planned for April 2025 , then pushed to March 19, 2026 , before moving to June 4, 2026 due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East , an important overseas market for Indian films.
Set against the backdrop of Goa from the 1940s to the 1970s , the film follows Yash as Raya, a formidable gangster navigating crime, power and survival in a turbulent era . The movie reportedly blends a stylised action spectacle with deeper psychological themes, offering a layered narrative beyond a conventional gangster drama.
Made on an estimated ₹700–800 crore budget , Toxic is being touted as one of the most expensive Indian films ever made , signalling a massive cinematic scale.
The film features a star-studded cast including Nayanthara , Kiara Advani (marking her Kannada debut), Huma Qureshi , Tara Sutaria , and Rukmini Vasanth , along with several international actors.
Produced by KVN Productions and Yash’s banner Monster Mind Creations , the film was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English and will also release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam , reflecting its pan-Indian and global ambitions.
