Yashoda hospital inaugurated in Ghaziabad; President Murmu stresses healthcare

President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday inaugurated Yashoda Medicity, a state-of-the-art private hospital in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh (UP), highlighting the vital role of healthcare in national development. Addressing the gathering, the President emphasised that no citizen should be deprived of effective medical services and commended medical professionals for their contribution to the nation.

“I appreciate all of you for your commitment. I am pleased to know that Yashoda Hospital has been working sincerely in line with national health priorities,” she said. She added, “Health service is an integral part of national development. Protecting people from diseases and improving their health standards is among the top priorities of the government.”

President Murmu called for active participation from all stakeholders, including the private sector, to ensure quality healthcare reaches every corner of the country. She stressed that economically weaker sections (EWS) also contribute to national development and must receive full support and access to medical services.

Yashoda Medicity, a project of the Yashoda Hospital group led by Dr P N Arora (Chairman) and Dr Upasana Arora (Managing Director), is built on an 8-acre campus and has a capacity of 1,200 beds, making it one of the largest healthcare facilities in the National Capital Region (NCR). The hospital features centres of excellence in cardiology, neurology, oncology, organ transplants, and mother and child care, and is equipped with advanced medical technology designed to provide comprehensive patient-centred care.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital served as a dedicated treatment facility and provided advanced interventions including Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) for critically ill patients. It also conducted a vaccine dry run in early 2021 to support the nationwide vaccination campaign. The hospital has been active under the National Tuberculosis (TB) Eradication Programme and treated a large number of patients during the pandemic.

Yashoda Medicity is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for medical and paramedical professionals, with specialized training, induction, and on-the-job development programs aimed at skill enhancement.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel attended the event. Dr P N Arora said the hospital aims not only to treat diseases but also to promote health awareness and education in society.

President Murmu’s inauguration of Yashoda Medicity underscores efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure and enhance access to quality medical services in India.
