Yami Gautam Turns Witchy Bride In “Nayyi Navelli” Trailer, Bringing Horror, Comedy And Dussehra Drama

Yami Gautam takes a striking turn as a mysterious bride with possible supernatural powers in the trailer of “Nayyi Navelli”, setting up a festive entertainer that mixes horror, comedy, action and family drama.

Released on September 30, the trailer introduces Yami as Mohini, whose arrival in a Meerut household soon leaves the family facing a series of unsettling incidents. While the film keeps its supernatural mystery at the centre, the trailer also leans heavily into comedy, creating an unusual mix of scares and humour.

Mohini’s character appears to have a darker side, with hints that she could be a daayan, though the trailer keeps her true identity deliberately unclear. The mystery is further heightened by fiery action sequences, including visuals of Yami wielding a bow, suggesting that the film will go well beyond a conventional horror-comedy.

The trailer also gets a festive touch, with the story seemingly building towards a larger conflict around Dussehra. The contrast between family humour, supernatural elements and high-energy action gives the film a distinctly commercial flavour aimed at the festive-season audience.

Directed by Balaji Mohan in his Hindi directorial debut, “Nayyi Navelli” brings together National Award winners Yami Gautam, composer G.V. Prakash Kumar and producer Aanand L. Rai. Prakash Kumar’s music has also emerged as one of the talking points following the trailer release.

Early audience reactions have praised Yami’s screen presence, comic timing and the energetic music, although some viewers have raised questions about the visual effects and the sharp shifts between comedy, horror and action.

With its supernatural mystery, festive setting and unusual genre mix, “Nayyi Navelli” is gearing up for a theatrical release on October 16, placing it squarely in the Dussehra-period entertainment lineup.
