Yamashita Keeps Her Hot Streak Alive, Shares FM Championship Lead at TPC Boston

Miyu Yamashita's remarkable run continued at TPC Boston as the Japanese star grabbed a share of the lead in the FM Championship, just days after completing a nine-stroke victory in Canada.

Yamashita carded a 2-under 70 in Friday's second round to move to 9-under 135 after 36 holes. She shares the lead with South Korea's Hyo Joo Kim and American Solheim Cup qualifier Allisen Corpuz, who both fired 67s.

The 4-foot-11 Yamashita arrived in Boston full of confidence after dominating the CPKC Women's Open in Canada, where she tied the LPGA Tour's 72-hole scoring record during her runaway triumph.

The Japanese golfer already has four LPGA Tour titles and 13 victories on the Japan LPGA Tour. She also won the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan in June, adding to a breakthrough run that has established her as one of the tour's rising stars.

Kim, a two-time winner this season, matched Corpuz's 67 to remain firmly in contention. She has already captured the Founders Cup and Ford Championship this year.

Corpuz, meanwhile, produced a bogey-free round and enters the weekend with momentum after securing the final automatic spot on the US Solheim Cup team last week.

Morgane Metraux, Ruoning Yin and Jenny Bae sit one shot behind the leaders at 8-under, while Nataliya Guseva and Emily Kristine Pedersen are at 7-under.

First-round leader Sei Young Kim slipped back after following her opening 64 with a 74.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda made the cut on the number after another 72, while European Solheim Cup captain Anna Nordqvist rebounded with a 68 to reach the weekend in her final LPGA Tour event.

The tournament offers a $4.4 million purse, the largest on the LPGA Tour outside the majors.
