Xi Jinping to visit US on Sept 24 after Trump’s China trip

Xi Jinping will undertake a state visit to the United States on September 24, 2026 , following his acceptance of an invitation from US President Donald Trump after high-level talks in Beijing, Chinese officials confirmed on Friday.

The announcement was made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi after the conclusion of talks between Xi and Donald Trump during Trump’s state visit to China , which lasted several days and included multiple rounds of discussions on bilateral, regional, and global issues.

Wang Yi said the two sides agreed to ensure thorough preparations for leadership exchanges , and to foster a stable and constructive environment for the upcoming visit. He said both countries are working to build a constructive China–US relationship of strategic stability , which would guide ties for the coming years.

He added that this framework emphasises cooperation as the mainstay , supports continuous exchanges and engagement , and aims to strengthen the resilience of China–US relations despite ongoing differences on several geopolitical issues.

The agreement follows discussions in Beijing that covered trade, security, and broader strategic concerns, with both sides expressing interest in maintaining high-level communication and preventing further deterioration in relations.

Both governments are attempting to stabilise ties amid global tensions and competing strategic interests.
