Gujarat Giants produced a commanding performance to beat UP Warriorz by 45 runs in a crucial WPL clash at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. The win ended the Giants’ three-match losing streak and marked their fifth consecutive victory over the Warriorz. The Giants set the tone early, building a competitive total and then delivering a disciplined bowling performance that kept the Warriorz under constant pressure.

UP Warriorz entered the match with confidence after back-to-back wins and were hoping to continue their momentum. Led by Meg Lanning , the team had turned their campaign around after a slow start. However, the shift to Vadodara brought fresh challenges, with conditions favouring disciplined pace bowling and making scoring difficult. Despite a strong start in the earlier overs, the Warriorz batting collapsed under pressure.

The biggest concern for the Warriorz remained the form of Kiran Navgire , who has struggled with the bat, managing only 16 runs in five matches. The lack of stability in the middle order further exposed the team, and they failed to recover after losing quick wickets. Their chase never gained momentum, and the Giants’ bowlers continued to strike at regular intervals.

Gujarat Giants’ bowling unit delivered a near-perfect display. Rajeshwari Gayakwad was exceptional, finishing with figures of 4-0-16-3. Her accurate and tight spell turned the match in the Giants’ favour, dismantling the Warriorz middle order. Sophie Devine also played a crucial role, both with the ball and as a leader on the field. She delivered key breakthroughs and was involved in decisive moments, including the final wicket that sealed the match.

Ashleigh Gardner’s fielding and tactical awareness also contributed significantly, with the Giants converting pressure into wickets at regular intervals. The Warriors were eventually restricted to 108 all out, their chase falling apart in the final overs. The Giants’ win gives them a much-needed boost as the league stage tightens, while the Warriorz will need to regroup quickly.

For Gujarat, the performance will restore belief and stability, especially after a disappointing run of results. For UP Warriorz, the focus will be on addressing their batting inconsistency and improving adaptability in different conditions.
