World’s largest Rolls-Royce centre opens in India

Rolls-Royce, the global luxury automobile manufacturer and power systems company, on Wednesday inaugurated its largest Global Capability and Innovation Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru, further strengthening Karnataka’s role as a hub for aerospace, defence, and advanced engineering.

The new facility was formally inaugurated by Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil, who highlighted that the Bengaluru-based team will now be driving Rolls-Royce’s global businesses. He said the expansion reaffirms Karnataka’s leadership in the aerospace and defence sector.

Bengaluru ranks among the world’s top three aerospace cities for attracting foreign investments. Our state hosts companies with strengths across the entire aerospace and defence value chain, Patil said. He added that in power systems and propulsion, companies such as Aequs and Collins Aerospace have established themselves as leaders, while Wipro and Mahindra Aerospace are key players in structural and mechanical components.

The Minister also cited the contributions of Boeing, Airbus, and Pixxel in specialised technologies, as well as Sarla and Tata Advanced Systems in end-manufacturing. He emphasised that Karnataka’s Aerospace and Defence Policy provides attractive incentives for investors, further promoting collaboration between research institutions, global firms, and home-grown start-ups.

“This collaborative ecosystem enables us to deliver world-class solutions to the world,” Patil remarked, reiterating the state government’s commitment to fostering investment through supportive policies, infrastructure development, and ease-of-doing-business measures.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Lindy Cameron, British High Commissioner to India, along with Helen McCabe, Global CFO of Rolls-Royce.

The centre is expected to enhance Rolls-Royce’s innovation capabilities, supporting the development of advanced technologies across aerospace, defence, and power systems, while reinforcing Bengaluru’s global reputation as a hub for engineering excellence.
