VMC Commissioner and IAS officer Ketan Garg held key discussions with representatives of the World Bank on strengthening infrastructure and accelerating development initiatives aimed at transforming Visakhapatnam into a world-class economic region.

The meeting, held at the GVMC headquarters, was attended by World Bank representatives Jones, Abhijit Roy and Jyoti Nayak. The discussions focused on strengthening urban infrastructure and advancing key development initiatives linked to the growth of the Visakhapatnam Economic Region.

Officials examined the need to prepare the city’s infrastructure for future requirements while improving civic services and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents. The meeting also focused on identifying ways to ensure that development keeps pace with Visakhapatnam’s growing economic and urban ambitions.

With the city witnessing a rising population, expanding industrial activity and the emergence of new economic opportunities, Ketan Garg stressed the importance of a comprehensive and long-term development plan. The focus, he noted, should be on building infrastructure capable of supporting the city’s growth while addressing future challenges.

The possibility of securing technical assistance and financial support from the World Bank for major development projects was also discussed. Participants exchanged views on the effective use of available resources and the need to strengthen infrastructure across the GVMC limits.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on coordinated planning and sustained efforts to build a modern, resilient and sustainable Visakhapatnam, capable of supporting long-term economic growth and providing better services and living standards for its residents.
