Women Entrepreneurs Shine at Guntur’s Vibrant Saras Mela

Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi , along with party leaders and workers , visited the prestigious Saras Mela being held in the front premises of Reddy College, Guntur . She toured the 307 stalls set up by DWCRA women , purchased their products, and appreciated the women entrepreneurs for their efforts.

During the visit, MLA Galla Madhavi stated that the mela was organized to encourage women from across the state—and even from different parts of the country—to showcase their talent and grow as entrepreneurs. Earlier, women had to travel to other states to participate in such events, but now having this opportunity in Guntur is a significant boon , she said. She also noted that some women were moved to tears of gratitude, which was a heartwarming sight.

With the Sankranti holidays approaching , she assured that all necessary arrangements were being made to handle the expected increase in visitors smoothly. Unlike the usual small-scale events held in each district , this year’s Saras Mela has been grandly organized with nearly ₹3 crore in funding , attracting women participants from across the country . The mela is drawing crowds not only from Guntur city but also from surrounding villages.

The event will continue until the 18th , and MLA Madhavi invited visitors coming to Guntur for the Sankranti festival to attend both the festivities at NTR Stadium and this mela .

She added that it was delightful to witness, in Guntur, the atmosphere usually seen at the annual Namapalli Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad , describing it as reminiscent of a “Mini India.” She expressed hope that such melas will continue regularly , with government support further encouraging women entrepreneurs.
