Woman kills her South Korean live-in partner :Noida
A court in Greater Noida on Monday sent a 22-year-old woman to 14 days of judicial custody for allegedly stabbing her live-in partner , a South Korean national , to death, police said.
The incident took place late Sunday night at a residential society in Sector 150, Greater Noida. The deceased has been identified as Duck Hee Yuh (46) , a South Korean citizen who was working as a branch manager with a private firm in the city.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Sudhir Kumar, police received information from the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) hospital that a foreign national had been brought dead. “Police reached the hospital and initiated an inquiry. It was found that the deceased was in a live-in relationship with a woman identified as Lunjeana Pamai, a native of Manipur, for about the past two years,” Kumar said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had frequent arguments, mainly over the man’s drinking habits. Police said the dispute escalated in the early hours of Sunday, during which the woman allegedly attacked him with a knife, leaving him critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The accused was arrested on Sunday after a case was registered at Knowledge Park police station and was produced before the court on Monday, which remanded her to 14 days of judicial custody.
Police said the woman, who is currently unemployed, took Yuh to the hospital after the incident, where doctors declared him dead. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination after completion of legal formalities.
Officials added that the woman had met the deceased at a party about two years ago, following which they began living together in a live-in relationship. Further investigation in the case is underway.
Such incidents involving foreign nationals have occurred in India in the past. In similar cases, the concerned embassy usually seeks official updates from authorities and monitors the investigation and trial to ensure due process. However, the nationality of the victim does not affect legal proceedings or sentencing, and the accused is tried under Indian law, facing the same legal process and punishment as in any other murder case.
