Woman Accuses Taxi Driver of Sexual Harassment, ₹60,000 Theft in Shamshabad

A 38-year-old woman has alleged that a taxi driver sexually harassed her and fled with ₹60,000 in cash after abandoning her on a service road near Shamshabad. The incident has been reported to the RGIA Airport Police, who have registered a case and launched a search for the accused.

According to police, Naini Nandini, a resident of Nalgonda who runs a departmental store, hired a taxi from Jadcherla at around 6 pm on Saturday to travel to Hyderabad. She was carrying ₹60,000 in cash. After reaching Shamshabad, the driver reportedly asked her to pay an additional ₹50 for travelling towards Gachibowli, and she agreed to the request.

The driver reportedly stopped the vehicle near a MedPlus medical store on the ORR service road after crossing the Thondapally toll gate, saying he needed to purchase medicines. Later, at around 8.30 pm, he allegedly stopped again on the service road near Kotwalguda.

According to the woman's complaint, the driver allegedly caught hold of her and sexually harassed her inside the vehicle. She raised an alarm, following which the driver reportedly left her at the spot and fled in the taxi with the ₹60,000 cash.

The woman told police that she would be able to identify the accused if she saw him again. Based on her complaint received at around 11.45 pm on September 26, RGIA Airport Police registered Crime No. 854/2026.

Police booked a case under Sections 74, 318(4) and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). SI H. Kishanji is investigating the case, while efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused driver.

In a separate incident, a 21-year-old nurse, Vuke Sirisha, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the Pahadi Shareef area last month.

Police said Sirisha's friend Saritha informed the complainant at around 2.30 pm that Sirisha had not stepped out of her room since morning. After repeated knocking failed to elicit a response, her friends reportedly entered through a window and found her dead with bleeding injuries.

Police suspect that unidentified persons may have attacked and killed her. An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding her death and identify those responsible.
