Former Telangana minister and Congress MLA Konda Surekha, who was recently dropped from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s Cabinet, has said she has no plans to leave the Congress and is confident of returning to the Assembly in the 2028 elections.

Speaking at a meeting with her supporters in Warangal on Sunday, Surekha said she and her husband, Konda Murali, would continue serving the people regardless of whether they held any official position. She said they would remain active in raising public issues and working for the development of the region.

Addressing speculation about her political future, Surekha said the Congress high command had been in touch with her. She claimed she had received calls advising her not to leave the party and assuring her that the leadership would take care of their concerns.

Surekha said she had made it clear to the party leadership that she had no intention of joining any other political party. She expressed confidence that she would contest the next Assembly election as a Congress candidate and win from the Warangal East constituency.

She also said she expected the party to give her the Congress ticket in 2028 and expressed confidence that she would return as a minister after winning the election. Surekha further said she would work towards bringing the Congress back to power in Telangana.

Her remarks come against the backdrop of a recent fallout with the state leadership. Surekha had earlier alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy resorted to “blackmail politics” to remove her from the Cabinet despite the reported reservations of the Congress high command.

She was dropped from the Cabinet on September 3 following a controversy surrounding remarks made by her daughter. Despite the setback, Surekha’s latest statement that she intends to remain with the Congress indicates that she is seeking to continue her political journey within the party and rebuild her position ahead of the 2028 polls.
