The southwest monsoon is expected to remain active across several parts of India on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and isolated heavy showers in multiple regions. Several states, including parts of the Himalayan belt, Northeast India, western coast and southern regions, are likely to witness continued monsoon activity.
The IMD forecast indicates that rainfall will continue due to prevailing monsoon conditions, with some areas likely to experience heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds . Weather officials have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious as intense showers may lead to waterlogging, local flooding and travel disruptions in some locations.
In North India, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are expected to receive further rainfall, with isolated heavy spells possible in some areas. The western Himalayan region remains sensitive to rainfall-related risks, including landslides and road blockages, especially in hilly districts. Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan may also witness scattered showers and thunderstorms.
The weather in Delhi NCR is likely to remain cloudy on July 14, with chances of light rain and thundershowers during the day. Nearby areas of Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh may also experience brief spells of rainfall due to active monsoon conditions.
In Maharashtra, monsoon showers are expected to continue, particularly across the Konkan region, including Mumbai . Coastal Maharashtra is likely to remain under the influence of strong monsoon winds and moisture-filled weather systems.
Southern states are also expected to see rainfall activity. Kerala and coastal Karnataka may receive moderate to heavy showers, while Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and parts of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh may experience cloudy weather with occasional rain and thunderstorms. Coastal areas are likely to remain more active due to favourable monsoon conditions.
Eastern and northeastern India will continue to receive monsoon showers on July 14. States including West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are expected to witness frequent rainfall, with isolated heavy spells possible in some areas. The Northeast region may continue to experience intense monsoon activity due to high moisture availability.
Central India, including parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh , is also likely to receive rainfall, with some areas witnessing moderate showers and isolated heavy rain. Farmers and residents in rain-prone districts have been advised to monitor local weather alerts.
Major cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Dehradun and Guwahati are expected to experience rain or cloudy conditions on July 14. While urban areas may see temporary waterlogging during heavy showers, hill regions could face higher risks from landslides and flash flooding.
