Actor Thiru Veer is gearing up for the release of his upcoming rural entertainer Oh..! Sukumari , but before the film arrives in theatres, the actor has opened up about a growing challenge faced by many content driven films today, converting appreciation into box office numbers.

In a recent interview, Thiru Veer explained why some of his films received positive feedback but failed to achieve the theatrical success the makers expected. According to the actor, quality content alone is no longer enough , as audiences have become more careful about spending money on theatre visits due to rising ticket prices and the convenience of OTT platforms.

Talking about his previous film The Great Pre Wedding Show , Thiru Veer said the film received strong appreciation from critics and even from viewers who are usually very selective with their opinions. However, he admitted that the movie suffered because of limited promotions and financial restrictions.

The Great Pre Wedding Show received very good reviews and appreciation, even from those who are usually very critical. We thought the movie would do well. However, due to the limitations we had, we couldn’t promote the film properly, ” he said.

The actor explained that the biggest problem was awareness. Despite the positive response, many potential viewers were unaware that the film had released in theatres. He added that financial limitations prevented the team from creating the kind of promotional campaign required to reach a wider audience.

Thiru Veer also spoke about Papam Pratap , saying the film received mixed reactions compared to The Great Pre Wedding Show . He pointed out that the theatrical environment has changed drastically, with audiences now waiting for strong word of mouth before deciding whether to watch a film on the big screen.

Watching a film in theatres has become a costly affair. Audiences are showing up only if the talk is good. They have also got used to OTT, ” Thiru Veer said.

The actor believes that today's films need either exceptionally positive audience feedback or a strong crowd pulling star to bring viewers into theatres. Smaller films, even those with good stories, often struggle because audiences can now wait for their OTT release instead of immediately buying theatre tickets.

Interestingly, The Great Pre Wedding Show itself became an example of how audience perception can change after release. The film initially struggled to gain attention in theatres but later received appreciation from viewers after its digital premiere.

Meanwhile, Thiru Veer is hoping to change that pattern with Oh..! Sukumari , which stars Aishwarya Rajesh as the female lead. Directed by debutant Bharath Darshan , the film is described by the actor as a family entertainer filled with emotions, humour, and a unique storyline.

Speaking about working with Aishwarya Rajesh, Thiru Veer said collaborating with experienced performers pushes him to improve as an actor. He also revealed that the film revolves around an unusual medical condition faced by Aishwarya Rajesh's character, which becomes the central conflict of the story.

With Oh..! Sukumari arriving in theatres this Friday, Thiru Veer is hoping that strong audience connection will finally translate into the theatrical success he has been looking for.
