Why Spain’s Submer Is Making a Massive Rs 19,000 Crore Bet on Madhya Pradesh

In a significant boost to India’s semiconductor ambitions, Spain-based Submer Group on Monday announced an investment of USD 2 billion (around Rs 19,000 crore) in the semiconductor sector in Madhya Pradesh . The project is expected to create nearly 5,000 direct jobs and strengthen the state’s position as an emerging technology hub.

The announcement was made during the MP Tech Growth Conclave 3.0: GCC – Data Centres and Semiconductors , where the company outlined its plans to establish a major presence in the state. The investment is expected to accelerate the development of semiconductor infrastructure and attract further global interest in Madhya Pradesh’s growing technology ecosystem.

According to a senior state government official, the company sought land allotment for a data centre project through an email, and the government allotted 15 acres of land in the Acharpura industrial area within just six days . The swift approval has been highlighted as an example of the state’s efforts to facilitate large-scale investments and fast-track industrial projects.

The proposed investment aligns with India’s broader push to build a robust domestic semiconductor industry and reduce dependence on imports. By attracting a global player such as Submer Group , Madhya Pradesh aims to position itself as a preferred destination for advanced manufacturing, data centres, and chip-related industries .

Industry observers believe the project could generate substantial economic activity beyond direct employment, benefiting ancillary industries, suppliers, logistics providers, and skilled professionals across the region. If implemented as planned, the investment would rank among the largest technology commitments announced in the state and could become a major milestone in India’s semiconductor journey .
