Where Is Gnaneshwari? Search Enters 12th Day Without Answers

The disappearance of two-year-old Gnaneshwari from a village in Kakinada district has evolved into one of the most distressing missing-child cases in recent memory, drawing widespread attention across the Telugu states. Despite an intensive search operation involving multiple government agencies and hundreds of personnel, the toddler remains untraceable nearly two weeks after she vanished, leaving her family and an entire community anxiously awaiting answers.

The child went missing on June 6 from Chintala Agraharam village , where she was reportedly last seen near a cashew orchard on the outskirts of the settlement. According to investigators, Jnaneshwari had wandered towards the plantation along with the family's pet dog. A villager who noticed the child alone reportedly attempted to alert her parents, but by the time family members and local residents reached the spot, she had disappeared.

Since then, authorities have launched a massive search operation involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) , State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) , police teams, forest officials, dog squads and technical investigation units. Search teams have combed forests, hillocks, plantations, ponds, wells and other remote locations in the surrounding region, but no definitive clue has emerged so far.

Investigators are examining every possible angle, including kidnapping , accidental disappearance and other circumstances that may have led to the child's disappearance. Police have reviewed CCTV footage from roads surrounding the village, questioned drivers of vehicles that passed through the area and analysed mobile tower data from the day of the incident. Officials identified nearly 170 active mobile numbers in the vicinity and deployed special teams to verify the movements of individuals who were present near the location.

The probe has also included extensive fieldwork. Police conducted a survey covering all 470 households in the village and questioned around 150 residents . Migrant workers, seasonal labourers and other transient groups who were in the area around the time of the incident are also being questioned as part of the investigation.

One of the more unusual elements of the case involves the family's pet dog , which disappeared at the same time as the child and returned home four days later. Investigators fitted the animal with a GPS tracker after veterinary treatment and analysed its movements. Although the tracking exercise helped identify additional search zones, it failed to provide any breakthrough. The dog later died due to illness, adding another layer of mystery to an already puzzling case.

Authorities have now expanded the search radius from six kilometres to nearly 10 kilometres , covering a chain of interconnected hills stretching towards Nakkapalli and Yelamanchili . Officials say heavy rainfall shortly after the child's disappearance may have washed away crucial evidence, making the investigation significantly more challenging.

The district administration has announced a ₹1 lakh reward for information leading to the child's whereabouts. Meanwhile, police have urged the public to refrain from spreading rumours or unverified claims on social media, stressing that no conclusive evidence has yet emerged to support any particular theory.

As the search enters its twelfth day, hope remains that a crucial lead will help investigators solve the mystery. For now, however, the disappearance of Jnaneshwari continues to haunt her family and the residents of Chintala Agraharam, who remain united in their hope that the little girl will be found.
