A wheel of a Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train operating between Idgah in Uttar Pradesh and Bandikui in Rajasthan derailed near Kherli station on Tuesday morning, railway officials said.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, officials of the North Central Railway (NCR) said, adding that restoration work had been initiated.
According to NCR Chief Public Relations Officer Shivam Sharma, the incident involved train number 64621, which operates between Idgah and Bandikui.
The train departed from Nadbai at 11:06 am, and one wheel of a coach derailed before it reached Kherli station, Sharma said.
The affected coach was the second from the front motor coach, he added.
Following the incident, Agra Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and other senior railway officials proceeded to the site to assess the situation and oversee restoration efforts.
“No casualty/injury has been reported. Restoration work has been started,” Sharma said.
Railway personnel have begun work to restore normal operations following the derailment. Further details about the cause of the incident and its impact on train services were not immediately available.
The incident comes amid continued efforts by railway authorities to ensure the safe operation of passenger services and respond promptly to disruptions on the network.
Officials did not immediately disclose whether the derailment had affected other train services in the area or how long the restoration work was expected to take.
The railway administration is overseeing the situation at the site, while further information is awaited on the circumstances that led to the wheel leaving the tracks.
No injuries were reported among passengers or railway personnel in the incident, according to the officials.
