Wearing cap for votes is shameful: Bandi Sanjay slams Revanth

The political heat in Telangana is rising ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election. On Friday, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of wearing a cap during campaigns solely to appeal to voters.

Bandi Sanjay said, “If I ever had to wear a cap just for votes, I would feel ashamed. I am a fearless Hindu and would never act in a way that insults other religions.” He pointed out that Muslim leaders like Azaruddin and Owaisi have never resorted to such tactics, whereas Revanth Reddy and Congress candidate V. Naveen allegedly wore caps for political gain. “Acting for votes is shameful,” he added.

He further challenged the CM, asking if he is truly brave, would he invite Azaruddin to recite the ‘Vakratunda Mahakaya’ mantra, or take Owaisi to the Bhagyalakshmi temple to sing devotional songs?

The controversy erupted after footage of CM Revanth Reddy wearing a skull cap while addressing a gathering in Paramount Colony during the by-election campaign went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, questioning why leaders from other parties, like former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao and BRS working president KTR, were not arrested in corruption cases related to the Kaleshwaram project, while opposition leaders in other states are targeted by IT, CBI, and ED raids.

The Jubilee Hills seat fell vacant following the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. The by-election is scheduled for November 11, with vote counting on November 14. Congress has fielded BC leader V. Naveen Yadav, BRS is represented by Gopinath’s wife Sunita, and BJP has nominated Lankala Deepak Reddy.
