“We will not allow Huzurabad to turn into a dumping yard”: MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy
At a press meet held at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad, MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy strongly criticised the proposed dumping yard in Huzurabad . He opposed the government’s decision to transport waste from four districts and set up a dumping facility there, calling it a move that would endanger public health and demanding its immediate withdrawal.
He warned that the dumping yard would lead to severe air, water, and soil pollution , adversely affecting people’s quality of life . He said it would damage agriculture, contaminate drinking water, and increase the risk of health issues. The MLA also criticised the government for taking the decision without considering public opinion .
Stating that he would not compromise on the issue, Kaushik Reddy alleged that he was receiving threats of being implicated in false cases , including CB-CID cases , and being sent to jail. Despite this, he asserted that he would continue his fight for people’s health and rights , adding that he would not back down under any pressure. “My struggle will continue until the dumping yard proposal is scrapped,” he said.
He also questioned Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and MP Eatala Rajender for not responding to the issue, saying that remaining silent on public concerns was inappropriate. He accused them of engaging in political theatrics while showing “fake concern” for the people. Kaushik Reddy said that if the people of Huzurabad unite and raise their voice against the dumping yard, the government would be forced to reconsider.
He announced that a padayatra would be undertaken on April 22 to strengthen the movement. The protest, he said, would be intensified and continued as a people’s movement until the dumping yard proposal is completely withdrawn.
