Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the state government is spending an average of ₹1,000 crore every month towards retirement benefits for government employees. He called upon employees to treat the 99-day action plan under “Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika” as a mission and work with dedication to ensure welfare benefits reach every poor person.

The Chief Minister was speaking on Friday at a felicitation meeting organised by the Madiga Employees Coordination Committee at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad, following the legalisation of SC sub-caste categorisation in the state. He attended the programme as the chief guest.

Revanth Reddy said nearly 1,000 government employees retire every month in the state. He noted that the government has to spend around ₹1 crore on retirement benefits for each employee, resulting in a monthly burden of about ₹1,000 crore . Despite this financial pressure, the government is ensuring timely payments by managing the state’s finances effectively.

The Chief Minister also advised officials to take strict action against tax evaders and urged government employees to be more vigilant in tax collection. He said the state’s financial situation is currently limited and added that the government has very little land available for distribution to uplift poor and weaker sections.

Emphasising that education is the primary path for the development of socially backward communities , Revanth Reddy said the government is taking special steps to make education accessible to people in villages, tribal hamlets and other poor regions. He added that the government is focused on providing quality education.

The Chief Minister assured that the government is committed to protecting the rights of Madiga employees and reiterated that policies are being implemented to ensure social justice and equal opportunities . He said the government will prioritise the development of all sections of society and undertake further reforms in the education and social sectors .

Revanth Reddy said welfare benefits will reach the last poor person only if government employees discharge their duties responsibly. He urged them not to show negligence even for a single day in implementing the Pragathi Pranalika . “A single day of laxity may result in injustice to ten Dalit families,” he remarked.

He described government employees as the “eyes and ears of the government” and also as its “brand ambassadors.”

The Chief Minister said the government will always stand by the rights of Dalits. He assured that funds will be sanctioned for the construction of the Madiga Atmagaurava Bhavan before the next Ambedkar Jayanti.

He noted that the issue of SC sub-caste categorisation had remained pending for decades and had witnessed many struggles. Despite political pressures, he said he stood firmly with the Madiga community. Following the directions of the Supreme Court, Telangana has become the first state in the country to implement SC categorisation.

Ministers Damodara Rajanarasimha , Adluri Laxman Kumar , several public representatives and a large number of employee union leaders attended the meeting. The Chief Minister urged employees to remain vigilant in protecting the legally secured rights obtained through the categorisation.
