The Telangana government is pushing to make the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital operational by December, with Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha directing officials to accelerate the remaining work and ensure the facility is fully prepared to begin medical services.

Reviewing the progress of the Warangal project along with the TIMS Alwal and TIMS LB Nagar hospitals at the Secretariat on Saturday, the minister said the projects must be closely monitored to avoid delays.

Officials from the Roads and Buildings Department and the construction agency told the minister that the Warangal hospital has entered the final stage of construction. The remaining civil works are expected to be completed by October, while the installation of key medical equipment, including X-ray and CT scan facilities, is scheduled to conclude in September.

With the government targeting a December opening, Rajanarsimha instructed officials to wrap up all pending works by the end of October and begin a trial run in November. He said the hospital should be thoroughly tested and prepared before patients are admitted for treatment.

The minister also asked officials to draw on the experience of the Dr Marri Channa Reddy TIMS while finalising arrangements at the Warangal facility. A committee of specialist doctors will inspect the hospital once every 15 days and provide recommendations on its preparedness.

Apart from the main medical infrastructure, officials were directed to ensure that essential services such as water supply, sanitation and other support systems are in place before the hospital begins operations.

During the review, officials said construction of TIMS Alwal is expected to be completed by the end of this year, while the TIMS LB Nagar project is scheduled for completion by March 2027.

Rajanarsimha directed senior officials of the Health Department and Roads and Buildings Department to conduct regular reviews and closely monitor the projects on the ground to ensure the timelines are met.
