Warangal SR University hackathon - 24 hours, 100+ teams

SR University in Warangal recently hosted an exciting 24-hour internal hackathon as part of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH-2025) initiative. The event saw participation from more than 100 student teams, all eager to showcase their creativity, problem-solving abilities, and technical skills.

The hackathon began at 9 am on September 13 and continued non-stop until 9 am on September 14, bringing together some of the brightest young innovators from the university. Over the course of the event, participants went through five rounds of evaluation, presenting innovative solutions to real-world challenges. After careful assessment, 50 top-performing teams were selected to advance further. The participants included second, third, and final-year B.Tech students from all branches, highlighting the diversity of talent at SR University.

SRU’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mahesh Vutukuru, along with Dr. Sheshikala Martha, Dr. Rupesh Mishra, Dr. Suresh Kumar Mandala, and Dr. Anirudh, motivated the students and offered valuable guidance throughout the event. Over 40 faculty members also provided mentorship and technical support, ensuring students could fully develop their ideas.

Industry experts, including Datta Sai Tanuj V from JPMorgan Chase and Co., and Jayapal Reddy Uradi, tech lead at Skyhigh Security, participated in the hackathon to share their insights and inspire the students with real-world industry perspectives.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mahesh appreciated the students for their enthusiasm, hard work, and creativity. He emphasized that events like this not only nurture the spirit of innovation but also prepare students for larger national competitions such as the Smart India Hackathon (SIH-2025).
