Wanted gangster Anmol Bishnoi arrested after US deportation, brought to Patiala House Court

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday arrested Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother and close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, following his deportation from the United States to India. Anmol, who had been absconding since 2022, is the 19th accused arrested in connection with the terror-syndicate led by Lawrence Bishnoi.

Anmol Bishnoi is wanted in several high-profile cases, including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in October 2022, the shooting incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence earlier this year, and the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. In March 2023, the NIA chargesheeted Anmol after investigations revealed that he had actively aided designated terrorist Goldy Brar and his brother Lawrence in carrying out acts of terrorism across India from 2020 to 2023. Operating from the US, he reportedly ran terror syndicates, provided shelter and logistical support to gang operatives, and carried out extortion in India through other gang members.

The secret escape and deportation of Anmol Bishnoi:

In April 2022, Anmol fled India using a fake passport under the name Bhanu Pratap. In October 2024, the NIA announced a bounty of ₹10 lakh for his arrest. In November 2024, he was detained in Sacramento, California, for illegally entering the US. On November 18, 2025, his asylum application was rejected by the Louisiana Court. The following day, November 19, 2025, he was extradited and brought to India to face the law.

Upon arrival, security at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport was tightened, with police personnel and the Dog Squad conducting extensive checks of vehicles and premises at Terminal 3. The NIA took official custody of Anmol and brought him to Delhi’s Patiala House court following his arrest. Investigations continue under case RC 39/2022/NIA/DLI, targeting the nexus between terrorists, gangsters, and arms smugglers, including their infrastructure and funding channels.

Anmol’s cousin, Ramesh Bishnoi, appealed to the Central government to ensure his safety, saying, “The law will take its course. Our family respects the law and we are law-abiding people, but today our main concern is that if he is being brought to India, the government should ensure his safety. He is being punished only for being Lawrence Bishnoi’s younger brother. The investigation will reveal everything.”

Last week, the Bombay High Court sought a reply from the Maharashtra government on a petition filed by Shehzeen Siddique, widow of Baba Siddique, demanding a court-monitored probe by an independent agency or a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the murder case.

Anmol Bishnoi’s deportation, arrest, and court appearance at Patiala House are expected to provide crucial insights into the Bishnoi gang’s international operations, terror networks, and organized criminal activities.
