The state government has invited tenders for the first phase of works through the Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation Limited (AMRCL) to take the project forward without keeping it pending till the green signal is received from the Centre. Tenders have been invited for Visakha Metro along with Amaravati Metro. But since these involve large sumsMany companies suggested that it would be difficult to make a single bidder and it would be better to call for tenders by making a few parts. Due to this, the deadline for filing tenders has been extended. Time was given till October 7th. Meanwhile, it has been decided to hold the pre-bidding meeting on 19th of this month. According to information from the authorities, there is a possibility of taking a decision on how many parts the Visakha project should be divided into in this meeting.

According to the current plan, 60 percent of the funds will be collected through the PPP system and the remaining 40 percent of the funds will be invested equally by the central and state governments. In the meeting to be held on 19th of this month, there will be clarity on how many parts of the first phase of work will be handed over to the contractors. Only then will it move forward. The officials have many doubts about whether the response to the tenders called for dividing the work will be received or not. If the metro is on the path of losses in Hyderabad with a population of one crore, doubts are being expressed about how successful it will be in Visakhapatnam, which has a population of less than 20 lakhs.
