Vivo S50 Pro Mini to Debut With Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and Major Performance Boost
The upcoming Vivo S50 Pro Mini has been confirmed to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, marking a major performance upgrade over its predecessor. The confirmation was made by Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao on Weibo, where benchmark scores and hardware details of the new model were also teased. The handset is expected to be launched in China next month alongside the standard Vivo S50.
According to the company executive, the device internally codenamed “Battle Angel” has been powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC. An AnTuTu benchmark score of around 3 million points has been shared, indicating a performance increase of more than 1 million points compared to earlier mid-range flagship models. This improvement is expected to deliver smoother multitasking, better gaming output and more efficient power management for users.
It has also been confirmed that the Vivo S50 Pro Mini will be equipped with LPDDR5X RAM with speeds of up to 9600Mbps and UFS 4.1 storage, including a 512GB variant. These upgrades are expected to enhance app loading, file transfers and camera processing speeds, offering users a faster overall experience.
The S50 Pro Mini will serve as a successor to the Vivo S30 Pro Mini, which was launched in China in May this year at a starting price of CNY 3,499 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model. With the introduction of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, a higher starting price in the CNY 3,799–4,199 range is likely, although official pricing has not yet been announced.
While exact display and camera specifications of the new model have not been released, the device is expected to retain several premium features found in its predecessor. The Vivo S30 Pro Mini was launched with a 6.31-inch AMOLED display offering 1.5K resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate and 5000 nits peak brightness. It featured a triple rear camera system that included a 50-megapixel primary Sony IMX921 sensor, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. A 50-megapixel front camera was provided for selfies. The handset also carried an IP68+IP69-rated build for strong dust and water resistance and was powered by a 6,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging.
Upgrades in performance, storage speed, and efficiency on the new Vivo S50 Pro Mini are expected to offer practical benefits for users. Faster processing, improved gaming stability, better thermal control and enhanced app responsiveness are likely to contribute to a smoother everyday experience. However, the device may also arrive with a higher price tag, and its global availability remains uncertain, as the S series has primarily been limited to the Chinese market. Battery capacity and camera specifications for the new model have not yet been disclosed.
Vivo has begun teasing the S50 series on its China website, where a pre-reservation page has already been made available. The official launch timeline has been set for December.
