Visakhapatnam Witnesses Grand IFR City Spectacle

The beachfront boulevard at RK Beach Road in Visakhapatnam turned into a sea of spectators on Thursday evening as the city played host to a spectacular display of maritime pride and military precision.

The highlight of the celebrations surrounding the International Fleet Review 2026 was the dazzling ‘International City Parade,’ which unfolded against the scenic Bay of Bengal backdrop, drawing thousands of onlookers.

The ceremonial march-past was reviewed by S. Abdul Nazeer , who attended as the chief guest. The event was conducted under the supervision of Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi , and reflected the operational discipline and strategic strength of India’s armed forces.

Tri-Services March in Perfect Harmony

Contingents of the Indian Navy, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard marched in flawless coordination, showcasing professional excellence and ceremonial grandeur. They were joined by naval representatives from friendly foreign nations, as well as teams from the NCC, Sea Cadet Corps and state police forces, all resplendent in ceremonial uniforms.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said the event symbolized India’s growing maritime strength and underscored Andhra Pradesh’s rising importance in the national defence landscape. He noted that such platforms reinforce India’s commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Aerial Thrills and Illuminated Warships

One of the most riveting moments of the evening was the aerial display by the Naval Air Arm. MiG-29K fighter jets roared across the twilight sky, executing sharp manoeuvres that drew loud applause from the crowd. Simultaneously, warships stationed offshore moved in coordinated formations, presenting an imposing maritime spectacle.

As dusk settled, the anchored naval vessels were illuminated with decorative lighting, transforming the coastline into a glittering panorama. The celebrations continued with a vibrant laser show, drone displays and a grand fireworks finale that left the audience spellbound.

A Historic Convergence of Global Naval Events

Held under the theme “Unity Through Oceans,” the celebrations mark a historic first for India. Alongside the Fleet Review, the country is simultaneously hosting MILAN 2026 and the Naval Symposium Conclave — three major international naval engagements taking place together for the first time in the nation’s history.

The coastal city’s grand showcase not only celebrated naval excellence but also positioned Visakhapatnam as a key maritime hub on the global stage.
