Visakhapatnam Summit Pushes AP Toward ‘Farm to Flight’ with Mega Biofuel Investments

Andhra Pradesh witnessed one of its strongest investment mobilisations in recent years as the state government announced ₹5,22,471 crore worth of MoUs at the 30th CII Partnership Summit, with the potential to create 2,67,239 jobs across sectors. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, addressing the plenary session on Friday, said the government has prepared a 50,000-acre land bank to facilitate upcoming industries and large-scale projects, underscoring the state’s commitment to driving rapid economic growth.

The Chief Minister urged both domestic and international industrialists to collaborate for the larger welfare of society, stating that Andhra Pradesh offers an investor-friendly environment supported by stable governance in the country under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Naidu noted the participation of delegates from Armenia, Saudi Arabia, Russia, the UK, Australia, Germany, Sri Lanka, Japan, Canada, and several other nations, calling their presence an encouraging signal for global partnerships.

A significant portion of the investment commitments at the summit came from companies in renewable energy, green hydrogen, green ammonia, wind–solar hybrid systems, pumped hydro storage, battery energy storage, biofuels, agrivoltaics, and renewable fuel manufacturing. Officials emphasised that the overwhelming response from investors highlights the strong credibility of the Integrated Clean Energy Policy – 2024, introduced under Naidu’s leadership. The policy streamlines approvals, enables long-term energy banking, and promotes dedicated green energy corridors, making Andhra Pradesh a preferred destination for clean energy investments.

Among the major announcements was a ₹10,000-crore MoU with AM Green Group, under which the company will establish multiple second-generation (2G) biorefineries and a 180 KTPA Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) plant in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Anakapalli districts. The SAF plant, with a capacity to produce 180,000 tonnes of aviation fuel annually, is set to become one of India’s largest clean aviation fuel facilities.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel is a low-carbon, renewable alternative to traditional jet fuel, produced from agricultural biomass and other organic waste. It can cut aviation emissions by up to 80 per cent and is compatible only with turbine-engine aircraft, including passenger jets, cargo planes, and some helicopters. It cannot be used in petrol or diesel engines. Once operational, the project could enable North Andhra to meet up to 75 per cent of India’s clean aviation fuel demand, while benefiting over 30,000 farmers through large-scale biomass procurement.

Naidu highlighted that Andhra Pradesh is not only advancing in clean energy but also leading the country in organic farming and emerging as a major player in global agricultural exports. He pointed to Araku coffee — an organic product that has gained global recognition — as an example of the state’s potential in premium, high-value sectors. He also reiterated AP’s leadership in aquaculture and said the state is open to collaborations in rare earths, minerals, and emerging technologies.

Tourism was another key sector highlighted by the Chief Minister. With a long coastline, scenic locations like Gandikota and Araku, and unique geographical assets, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh offers strong opportunities for tourism-related investments. He added that the government has launched experience centres to promote local culture, handicrafts, and sustainable tourism initiatives.

The record-breaking MoUs signed at the Visakhapatnam summit reflect Andhra Pradesh’s strategic shift toward future-ready industries. With a robust land bank, policy support, and strong investor interest, the state government reaffirmed its goal of positioning Andhra Pradesh as the principal hub of India’s green energy, clean manufacturing, and innovation-driven growth.
